The Causse lake
Beaches, calm waters, nature... Welcome to Lac du Causse! The place to be near Brive: swimming, water sports, hiking, geocaching, restaurants or just relaxing... at Lac du Causse, you can have it all!
And that's just as well, because from the campsite you have direct access to the lake and the hiking trail running around it. With an area of 7 km, the lake is open to everyone and accessible all year round. As the seasons go by, the lake comes alive and offers its visitors national, international and sometimes even global sports competitions (rowing, open water swimming, triathlon...).
In summer, the lake comes alive with yoga sessions, various activities for children, night-time shows... not to mention the guinguettes that take place every Sunday evening! And you won't know the best bit: all these activities are free!
The Causse offers a wide range of sporting and family activities.
- Want to see as much as possible in a few days? Hire an electric mountain bike and explore all the lovely trails around the lake.
- The Terra Aventura geocaching trail "De l'eau à la pierre du Causse" is also a good alternative for getting to know the Causse in treasure-hunting mode!
- Why not try water sports? The Lac du Causse is a 100-hectare navigable lake. To make the most of it, there are 2 addresses where you can choose the most suitable activity:
- The water sports centre, which offers water sports equipment for hire: rowing, canoeing, pedalos, paddle boats, etc.
- The ASNBC (Association Ski Nautique Briviste du Causse), which runs introductory water-skiing courses for children (aged 2 and over) and adults, as well as monoskiing and wakeboarding! For the more adventurous (and those in a hurry), the towed buoy is the ideal activity for visiting the lake at full speed!
- Fishing: one of the official sports of the Causse. Pike, pike-perch, black bass, rotengle, roach, perch, carp, catfish, sun perch and even California crayfish... the lake is home to many varieties of fish, giving you plenty of ways to enjoy yourself! Around the lake, you'll find the Lissac mill, inside which the 1st floor has been converted into the Maison de l'eau et de la pêche.
The Lac du Causse, a nature spot
If you come to spend a few days at the Lac du Causse, you won't want to miss the various hikes and mountain bike rides around the campsite! Almost a dozen are offered and you can start with a walk around the lake (7 km), which is accessible to young and old - count on about 1 hour.
Eating with your feet in the water!
Around the Lac du Causse, between "Plage des Peupliers and Plage du Moulin", there are plenty of tables where you can enjoy a picnic with your feet (almost) in the water! In summer, you'll also find a number of food-trucks in this area, where you can get something to eat or drink at any time of the day.
Next to the moulin, the Bar du chemin is open every day in summer, serving cold drinks, ice creams and aperitifs when the sun starts to fall. There are also 2 pétanque courts and boules available for a game at any time of day.
Summer show at Lac du Causse
During July and August, the lake becomes the playground of Brive Tourisme's entertainment department.
- Fun and sporting activities for the kids and sports classes for the parents: the beach entertainment really takes off!
- Fire shows, horse shows, burlesque shows... the programme for the Jeudis du Causse gets even more impressive every year!
- On Sundays, it's guinguette time at the Causse: chequered tablecloths, a musical atmosphere, a tropical climate... everything you need to make the most of your holiday!
